 Former governor of Imo state, Ikedi Ohakim, claims that Nigeria's economic hardship did not begin during the Muhammadu Buhari administration.  Ohakim,said that the nation’s economy was already crippled before the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. The former Governor made the claim while delivering a 52-page lecture titled: “Leadership in times of adversity. Navigating Nigeria’s turbulent economy”, at the 2016 Diocesan Synod of Ikeduru Anglican Diocese. “There is no doubt that before the Muhammadu Buhari administration, Nigeria’s economy had been diagnosed HIV positive, but it was being professionally managed with anti-retroviral drugs,” he said.

All physically challenged graduates of Anambra State origin have been offered automatic employment by Governor Willie Obiano as part of the state government’s determination to reduce their hardships.  Obiano, who spoke weekend through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu during a cultural carnival for Anambra Central Senatorial District held at Agulu in Anaocha local government area in continuation of the Anambra@25 Silver Jubilee anniversary celebration, said the employment was in line with the stimulus package announced recently for the people of the state. Oil mogul Femi Otedola has fallen out of the exclusive list of Africa’s Billionaires after his net worth dropped from $1.8 billion to $550 million due largely to a massive drop in the stock price of his petroleum marketing company, Forte Oil.   According to FORBES, Forte Oil’s share price was at N145 ($o.44) per share down from an all-time high of N342 ($1.1) in March 2016. Also, the devaluation of the Naira by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was also attributed as one of the reasons for the drop. Investors are dumping Forte Oil’s shares as a result of wide-spread disappointing results of Nigerian Companies of which Forte Oil Plc is also not immune. Emirate Airline will suspend its operations in Nigeria from October 22nd, due to irregularities in foreign currency repatriation policy.  According to LEADERSHIP, speaking on the challenges currently facing the airline, concerned stakeholders in the aviation sector lamented the inability of the foreign airlines to get the dollar equivalent of the money. Emirates is Dubai-based airline, United Arab Emirates and a subsidiary of the Emirates Group, which is wholly owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation of Dubai.

Chairman, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has said that if Nigeria did not check the level of food importation before 2020, we are bound to go hungry. The Africa's richest man lamented that 98 per cent of all dairy products consumed in the country are imported. He said that the nation was at the risk of hunger in the next few years if the mass food importation was not checked. Dangote made this assertion in Lagos on Monday while addressing some students of the Executive MBA class of the Lagos Business School who visited the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery.
