 Court bars Obi’s supporters from converging at Lekki Toll Gate The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the Labour Party(LP) and its supporters not to converge at the Lekki toll gate for their #Obidatti23 Forward Ever Rally billed to hold on October 1, 2022. Justice Daniel Osiagor, who made the order, did not stop the supporters from holding the rally in Lagos State. Rather, the judge directed that the rally procession cannot converge at the Lekki toll gate, but that the procession can pass through the toll gate to access Falomo Bridge and other venues at which the rally plans to meet. The judge directed the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos State Police Commissioner to ensure compliance with the order.

     Mixed reactions have trailed the promise by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, stating that his administration will prioritise the welfare of the poor Nigerians if elected. Obi said youths would be the proponent of his agenda to transform the economy. “If elected the next president of Nigeria, youths would be the main proponents of my main agenda to transform Nigeria from a consuming nation to a producing nation. Just In: FG orders VCs to reopen universities

      The Federal Government through the National Universities Commission (NUC) has ordered vice-chancellors to re-open schools and allow students resume lectures. Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, in a letter to the VCs and Pro-Chancellors, asked them to ensure the campuses are reopened and normal academic and non-activities in the campuses. NUC Director of Finance and Accounts, Sam Onazi, who signed the letter on behalf of the NUC boss, asked the VCs to ensure that ASUU members immediately resume/commence lectures, and also restore the daily activities and routines of the various University campuses. This comes days after the National Industrial Court on September 21 ordered ASUU to call off the ongoing nationwide strike. Recall that ASUU has been on strike since February 14, 2022, to press home the demand for improved funding for universities, a review of salaries for lecturers, among other issues. N59.7m fraud: Court jails Pastor seven years in Lagos

Justice Sherifah Solebo of the Special Offences Court siting in Ikeja, Lagos has convicted and  sentenced  Cletus Ilongwo, Presiding Pastor, Power of the Holy Ghost Evangelical Ministry, to seven years in prison for N59.7m fraud. Ilongwo was first arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on November 5, 2018 on  11-count charges , to which he pleaded "not guilty". He was subsequently re-arraigned on June 16, 2022 on an amended seven-count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of N59.7million. One of the counts reads: "Cletus Ilongwo, on or about the 29th day of January, 2016, at Lagos, within the Ikeja Judicial Division, dishonestly converted to your own use the sum of N10millon, being money received through your Zenith Bank account from Obinna Ezenwaka meant for the purchase of the property situated at No 165c, Block 12, Diamond Estate, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.” He again pleaded "not guilt

Two Workers Reported Dead As Three Storey Building Under Construction Collapses In Anambra.

Two persons have been confirmed dead and two others narrowly escaping death as a three storey building under construction collapsed at Ibolo, Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area. The  building which is at roofing stage collapsed to the ground when workers were loosing the parapet. Speaking to newsmen who visited the scene of the collapse, a survivor, Mr. Ositadinma Chukwuleta, who narrated his lucky escape, revealed that while loosing the woods used for the casted parapet, he noticed the building dividing from the foundation and jumped down immediately escaping the collapse as two others working in the building were not so lucky. Mr. Chukwuleta who was visibly shocked and could not hold his emotions, said that he has been abandoned since the incident, as sympathizers were the ones who has helped to stabilize him with drugs and support, as he needs medical help.
