EX- GUSAU UNIVERSITY VICE CHANCELLOR SENTENCED TO 35 YEARS IN PRISON FOR FRAUD



      Magaji Garba, former vice chancellor of the Federal University, Gusau, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison by an Abuja court.

Garba was found guilty of a five-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretense and forgery on Thursday.

SPY NIGERIA learnt that Garba was arraigned by the EFCC on October 12, 2021, for allegedly extorting money from the contractor who was to build a N3 billion perimeter wall fencing of the university.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) issued a statement that Garba’s “offence is contrary to section 1 (1) (a) and punishable under section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006”.

Garba was convicted by Justice Maryam Hassan Aliyu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Garki, Abuja.
