The tropical nation of Maldives has quit the commonwealth saying the inter-governmental organisation had taken punitive actions against the Maldives despite its progress in strengthening democratic institutions. The South Asian country announced on Thursday its decision to leave in a statement via its Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  The statement said: “The Maldives joined the Commonwealth in 1982 with high hopes and expectations, convinced that the organisation will be an arena for coordinating critical issues that the member States, in particular, the smallest members of the organisation face. Since 2012, the Government of Maldives has been giving maximum cooperation to the Commonwealth, shown maximum transparency, and engaged with the Commonwealth at the highest levels. The Government had high hopes that such level of engagement will produce fruitful results. 2023: 'I Wish Peter Obi Was Not An Igbo Man'       ▪Sometimes I just wish that Peter Obi was from another Tribe but not Igbo so I can campaign for him without anyone thinking I'm doing so because he's Igbo or people rejecting the best candidate just because of his tribe.  It's difficult being black...         Former Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has written to Bancorp Bank in Minnesota in the United States that the alleged $757 million Dollars domiciled in an account in his name; was authorized by him in error; from a Rivers State Government Account with Access Bank Plc. The Nigerian most corrupt governor according to CNN letter reveals that a similar letter was also written to a bank in Switzerland; stating that a similar authorization was made in error. The letter stated that the said transfers to both banks were for the purchase of security Helicopters, payments to a foreign company to combat malaria in Rivers state by using helicopters to spray mosquito insecticides, and for the purchase of an official residence for Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, in America. The letter further explains that, the payments for the security helicopters, and mosquito insecticides to fight malaria were made through other sources, after the funds had already been transferred abroad.
