First Republic Aviation Minister, Mbazulike Amaechi, is dead

      Nigeria’s first Aviation Minister and a member of the first republic leaders, Chief Mabzulike Amechi, has died at the age of 93.

According to a press statement from the family on Tuesday, signed by Ezeana Tagbo, Chief Amechi died in the early hours of Tuesday, November 1.

Amechi, who hailed from Amihe village in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was a nationalist and the only surviving member of the Zikist Movement.

      The statement read, “With total deference to the will of the Almighty God, the Ume Amechi, Ezeana Ihinede families and the Umu Mmara kindred of Amihe Ukpor in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State announce the peaceful transition of our illustrious son, father and grandfather, Chief Mbazulike Amechi (Dara Akunwafor), Nationalist and First Republic Minister of Aviation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who transitioned peacefully in the early hours of today November 1, 2022.

“We thank God for the fulfilled life that he lived, the lives that he touched and his service to God and Country. We respectfully ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers at this time.”

N1.4bn bank fraud: EFCC arrests Kogi Assembly candidate with N326m, $610,500 cash       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested the Kogi State House of Assembly candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi with N326million and $ 140,500 cash.  Atumeyi who is seeking to represent Ankpa 11 Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly was arrested on Sunday, October 30, 2022 alongside one Joshua Dominic, an alleged serial fraudster, in a sting operation at Macedonia Street, Queens Estate, Karsana,  Gwarinpa, Abuja. Saraki Loses Again As Appeal Court Dismisses Suit Against His Corruption Trial At The Code Of Conduct Tribunal

     A five-man panel of the Court of Appeal in Abuja has dashed the hopes of Senate President Bukola Saraki of evading the corruption trial initiated by the Federal Government for the alleged false declaration of assets. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja today struck out the application filed by the embattled Senate President challenging the jurisdiction of the at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to entertain the charges against him. In a unanimous decision which was read by Justice Abdul Aboki who led the five-man panel ruled that the appeal is unmeritorious and was then entirely dismissed. The court resolved all the nine grounds of appeal against Saraki and affirmed the power of the tribunal to entertain and try him for the charges brought against him.
