REV FR. HYAÇINTH ALIS IS ON COURSE TO RETIRE PDP IN BENUE STATE - Chukwudi Iwuchukwu
I was told that Father is the most popular politician in Benue state today as he has won and captured the hearts and imagination of the masses in Benue who see him as their messiah.
He was in Ortom village yesterday, and he shut the whole village down as Ortom kinsmen trooped out to welcome him.
Apparently, Ortom has not been paying salaries and pensions.
Benue state is largely a civil service state.
If the Reverend Father turned politician can convert the momentum and the organic support of the masses of Benue into actual votes, he will be the next governor of Benue state, and when this happens,
He will be the second Catholic reverend father to be a governor in Nigeria, after Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu, who was, ironically, a former governor of the same Benue too.
Adasu (12 June 1945 – 20 November 2005) became governor of Benue State, Nigeria on January 2, 1992, elected on the Social Democratic Party (SDP) platform. He left office after the military coup of November 1993, in which General Sani Abacha came to power.
