Fire outbreak has been reported at the Dangote spaghetti factory in Ebute, Ikorodu, Lagos state. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The tropical nation of Maldives has quit the commonwealth saying the inter-governmental organisation had taken punitive actions against the Maldives despite its progress in strengthening democratic institutions. The South Asian country announced on Thursday its decision to leave in a statement via its Ministry of Foreign Affairs. None of the policemen accused of brutality, torturing and extrajudicially murdering Nigerian citizens have been brought to justice — there has been no marked improvement in the funding or quality of equipment available to the Nigerian Police Force and these incidents of torture continue in many security facilities nationwide.
